Eusébio Brás stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tiago Gaspar's shot from short distance in the 5th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Albertino Mota got free with Armindo Fonseca in the 7th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Tiago Gaspar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eusébio Brás having to interfere. Armindo Fonseca took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Armindo Viegas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 16th minute Tiago Gaspar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eusébio Brás saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Joaquim Carvalho in the 17th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Eusébio Brás prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Albertino Mota could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Armindo Fonseca made a huge save. In the 22nd minute of the match Sérgio Aguiar shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Eusébio Brás showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The audience was convinced that Joaquim Carvalho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Eusébio Brás was relentless in the 23rd minute of the game. If Albertino Mota had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
