The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Daniel Martins during the 14th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 13 minutes into the game, one of Marinheiros:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Albertino Magalhães sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 19th minute, Jorge Carvalho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 24 minutes into the match, SC Tremoceira's goal looked a bit too open when Paulo Magalhães came free, but Rui Nogueira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ricardo Moutinho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Humberto Miranda, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. In the 27th minute Albertino Magalhães shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rui Nogueira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Eduardo Aguiar fell near the penalty area in the 30th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Marinheiros's protests and gave Eduardo Aguiar a yellow card for diving instead. In the 32nd minute of the match, Manuel Campos got a very nice opportunity to score, but Ricardo Moutinho was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. 34 minutes into the match, Paulo Magalhães notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of SC Tremoceira's Rui Nogueira. Rui Nogueira was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ricardo Moutinho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Humberto Miranda, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. In the 42nd minute Humberto Miranda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ricardo Moutinho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alberto Faro hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. When Humberto Miranda came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the SC Tremoceira fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Humberto Miranda couldn't finish the play. 47 minutes into the match, Marinheiros's goalkeeper Ricardo Moutinho had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Manuel Campos. The SC Tremoceira players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Marinheiros were winning 0-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Paulo Magalhães to strike the kick off in the second half. Humberto Miranda might have been able to make a better finish in the 55th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ricardo Moutinho. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Humberto Miranda ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 63rd minute, Manuel Campos left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The SC Tremoceira fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Eduardo Aguiar hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. Albertino Magalhães's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rui Nogueira read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 70th minute of play. Eduardo Leal hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. In the 71st minute, Paulo Magalhães got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Albertino Magalhães had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marinheiros's Ricardo Moutinho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Humberto Miranda in the 80th minute of play. In the 84th minute, Alberto Faro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Paulo Magalhães was extremely unlucky when he, in the 89th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Ricardo Moutinho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Manuel Campos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Marinheiros's zone, Humberto Miranda stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ricardo Moutinho came out of the goal and Humberto Miranda tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
