In the 11th minute, SC Salto's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Simão Neto fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. SC Fadagosa's João Assunção played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rui Delgado in the 24th minute of play. João Assunção showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joaquim Gaspar, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by David Matos during the 33rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 33 played minutes SC Fadagosa got a freekick which was hit by David Matos. After 34 played minutes SC Fadagosa got a freekick which was hit by Amílcar Leal. Domingos Coelho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Cristiano Lima tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to SC Salto getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Duarte Amaro hit a great ball. 40 minutes into the game, Diamantino Pinho was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SC Salto's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SC Fadagosa the free kick. After a rather tough play, SC Salto's Diamantino Pinho got a free kick in the 41st minute. When Rui Delgado came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the SC Salto fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rui Delgado couldn't finish the play. If Domingos Coelho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Joaquim Gaspar stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Joaquim Gaspar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. João Assunção tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 57th minute the ball was on its way in behind SC Fadagosa's goalkeeper João Assunção, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Joaquim Gaspar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Cristiano Lima stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Domingos Coelho's shot from short distance in the 72nd minute. Rui Delgado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. João Assunção tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Joaquim Gaspar hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. Simão Neto's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cristiano Lima read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 78th minute of play. A collision led to SC Fadagosa getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Adelino Ribeiro hit a great ball. Joaquim Gaspar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Assunção having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Joaquim Gaspar in the 88th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg João Assunção saved SC Fadagosa from getting behind. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
