The Malcata fans' excitement grew in the 20th match minute when Malcata's Ricardo Vieira looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. Cândido Viana stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ricardo Vieira's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. 39 minutes into the match, SC Resouro's goal looked a bit too open when Ricardo Vieira came free, but Cândido Viana reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luís Marques received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Miguel Machado tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Miguel Resende stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 51st minute, Ricardo Vieira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Malcata's supporters rose to their feet, but Ricardo Vieira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cândido Viana breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
