The audience thought a goal was coming when Jaime Oliveira got free with Lúcio Correia in the 15th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Manuel Andrade showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Manuel Coelho in the 18th minute of the match. Mendares FC's Lúcio Correia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rafael Leal in the 23rd minute of play. Daniel Coelho's late challenge caught a Mendares FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Daniel Coelho helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Gabriel FC getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Daniel Coelho hit a great ball. Manuel Andrade made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Manuel Coelho in the 28th minute of play. In the 29th minute, Daniel Coelho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 36 minutes, Jaime Oliveira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gabriel FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jaime Oliveira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Rafael Leal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Jaime Oliveira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Lúcio Correia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
