The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Henrique Amaral made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from José Matias in the 4th minute of play. José Matias fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Henrique Amaral having to interfere. SC Pedregosa's Henrique Amaral played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vítor Freitas in the 19th minute of play. After having played for 24 minutes, José Matias managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Alagoas's supporters crossed their fingers, but José Matias was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Albertino Vieira received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Vicente Gaspar came out and tried to block the shot, but Albertino Vieira slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 26th minute. Nuno Sá sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vicente Gaspar made a fantastic save in the 36th minute, when Nuno Sá sent off a good shot on target. José Matias received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Henrique Amaral tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Albertino Vieira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 46 minutes into the match, Alagoas's goal looked a bit too open when Albertino Vieira came free, but Vicente Gaspar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. José Pacheco charged in rather forcefully in the 47th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed José Pacheco the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. José Pacheco kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Albertino Vieira to make the kick off. In the 51st match minute, Alagoas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vicente Viegas to maneuver through the defense. Vicente Viegas's late challenge caught a SC Pedregosa's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vicente Viegas helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of SC Pedregosa booed when Alagoas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vicente Viegas didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 54thth minute of the game Albertino Vieira who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Alagoas's Vicente Gaspar was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Albertino Vieira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When SC Pedregosa's Albertino Vieira in the 59th minute got a chance for a shot 59th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Albertino Vieira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Nuno Sá fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vicente Gaspar having to interfere. When Albertino Vieira came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the SC Pedregosa fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Albertino Vieira couldn't finish the play. 90 minutes into the game, Alagoas's José Matias nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Henrique Amaral made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
