In the 6th minute, Pedro Delgado left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Corticois fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. 10 minutes in the game, Tomás Vale dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. The audience was convinced that Tomás Vale's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Paulo Vale was relentless in the 12th minute of the game. If Pedro Delgado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 17 minutes, Ricardo Borges managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Corticois's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ricardo Borges was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Ricardo Borges had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Paulo Vale made a fantastic save in the 23rd minute, when Manuel Santarém sent off a good shot on target. The audience thought a goal was coming when Manuel Santarém got free with Paulo Vale in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Joaquim Cardoso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pedro Delgado in the 27th minute of the match. Ricardo Borges sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Joaquim Cardoso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ricardo Borges, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 36 minutes, Bernardo Valente mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Corticois and the SC Atouguia players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Corticois's Bernardo Valente got a free kick in the 36th minute. SC Atouguia's Tomás Vale got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Lúcio Pires took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 44th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Paulo Vale. Corticois's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. When Ricardo Borges came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the Corticois fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ricardo Borges couldn't finish the play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Pedro Delgado to make the kick off. After 52 played minutes SC Atouguia got a freekick which was hit by Paulo Alves. Ricardo Borges sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Ricardo Borges had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
