In the 4thth minute of the game Rui Baptista who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Cachao's André Oliveira was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Lagarelhos's Miguel Luz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bruno Nunes in the 5th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rui Baptista got free with André Oliveira in the 6th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. André Oliveira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rui Baptista, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. In the 13th match minute, Cachao was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jaime Ramos to maneuver through the defense. André Oliveira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rui Baptista in the 18th minute of play. 20 minutes into the match, Miguel Nascimento had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Miguel Luz. The supporters of Lagarelhos booed when Cachao was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jaime Ramos didn't get a good kick on the ball. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Miguel Nascimento stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Rui Baptista's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but André Oliveira read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 54th minute of play. A collision led to Cachao getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Jacinto Santos hit a great ball. If Miguel Nascimento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The Cachao supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Cachao would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
