Hélder Torres made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bernardo Santos in the 9th minute of play. Viriato Tavares charged in rather forcefully in the 14th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Viriato Tavares the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Vellas booed when Donfins was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Viriato Tavares didn't get a good kick on the ball. Miguel Assunção sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Donfins's Luís Rocha got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a little luck, Vellas's Humberto Faria got control of the ball when André Queirós tried to sneak it across the goal line. Bernardo Santos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Hélder Torres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hélder Torres made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bernardo Santos in the 36th minute of play. André Queirós received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Humberto Faria tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hugo Andrade could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 43rd minute of the match, but Humberto Faria made a huge save. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Humberto Faria made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from André Queirós in the 53rd minute of play. Bernardo Santos who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 57thth minute tested the skills of Hélder Torres when he managed to save the team from getting behind. When Vellas's Miguel Assunção in the 58th minute got a chance for a shot 58th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Donfins's goalie prevented a goal. If Bernardo Santos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Humberto Faria showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from André Queirós, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. Bento Domingues kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Miguel Assunção managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vellas's supporters rose to their feet, but Miguel Assunção was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hélder Torres breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Miguel Assunção recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Hélder Torres showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Miguel Assunção in the 75th minute of the match. Miguel Assunção sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 79 minutes, Carlos Correia mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vellas and the Donfins players grew even worse after the yellow card. Carlos Correia kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. Humberto Faria showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bento Domingues in the 81st minute of the match. Humberto Faria didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from André Queirós went, in the 82nd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. 86 minutes into the game, Paulo Henriques was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Vellas's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Donfins the free kick. After 86 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Vellas! Vellas:s Humberto Faria showed great skill when he stopped Diamantino Assunção:s penalty. After having played for 90 minutes, Luís Rocha managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Donfins's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luís Rocha was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Luís Rocha recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 92nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 96th minute, Donfins's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Miguel Assunção fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. An unexpected shot in the 101st minute by Miguel Assunção got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Vellas's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
