After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Marco Vaz managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Luso's supporters rose to their feet, but Marco Vaz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hélder Torres breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Hélder Torres showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joaquim Rodrigues in the 17th minute of the match. After 19 played minutes SC Luso got a freekick which was hit by Joaquim Rodrigues. In the 21st minute the ball was on its way in behind Donfins's goalkeeper Hélder Torres, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 22 played minutes SC Luso got a freekick which was hit by Óscar Jesus. After a defensive mix-up in SC Luso's zone, Amadeu Antunes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luís Campos came out of the goal and Amadeu Antunes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Donfins booed when SC Luso was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristiano Mendes didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Amadeu Antunes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Donfins's supporters rose to their feet, but Amadeu Antunes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luís Campos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Hélder Torres stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Joaquim Rodrigues's shot from short distance in the 56th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Américo Leal during the 58th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Marco Vaz's late challenge caught a Donfins's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Marco Vaz helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, SC Luso's Marco Vaz got a free kick in the 63rd minute. When the match had gone on for 70 minutes, Amadeu Antunes took a quick shot and it went in 0-1 without a chance for Luís Campos to make any attempt to save it. Luís Rocha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Diamantino Assunção fell near the penalty area in the 82nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Donfins's protests and gave Diamantino Assunção a yellow card for diving instead. In the 82nd minute, one of Donfins:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Donfins. In the 84th minute there was a penalty for SC Luso. Albertino Nascimento stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Hélder Torres. 1-1. Diamantino Assunção lost his temper 89 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. The referee gave SC Luso a penalty, 91 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Albertino Nascimento, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Donfins's Hélder Torres. 2-1. During the 96th minute of the match Óscar Jesus completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Óscar Jesus a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Donfins's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
