Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Filipe Matias started the match with the kick off. After 3 minutes, Domingos Gonçalves mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ponte and the Almalaguez players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Ponte getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Domingos Gonçalves hit a great ball. Duarte Valente was extremely unlucky when he, in the 4th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Ponte's Gustavo Silva played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Duarte Valente in the 10th minute of play. Almalaguez's Henrique Assunção suffered a sore thigh after 11 minutes and couldn't finish the game. 11 minutes into the game, Bruno Vaz was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ponte's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Almalaguez the free kick. After a rather tough play, Ponte's Bruno Vaz got a free kick in the 12th minute. Almalaguez's Jorge Mota played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jaime Borges in the 14th minute of play. Jorge Mota stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Filipe Matias's shot from short distance in the 15th minute. 17 minutes into the match, Almalaguez's goal looked a bit too open when Filipe Matias came free, but Jorge Mota reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Filipe Matias received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Jorge Mota tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Ponte getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Bruno Vaz hit a great ball. Duarte Valente charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Duarte Valente the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Ponte's defense didn't have a chance, in the 26th minute, when Pedro Costa scored to the left of an out of position Gustavo Silva, making the score, 1-0. Jaime Borges struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Jorge Mota didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ponte. The supporters of Ponte booed when Almalaguez was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nuno Nogueira didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Pedro Costa got free with Gustavo Silva in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Almalaguez's Pedro Costa got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 40 minutes, Filipe Matias managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ponte's supporters crossed their fingers, but Filipe Matias was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jaime Borges fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorge Mota having to interfere. When Jaime Borges came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the Ponte fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jaime Borges couldn't finish the play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.
The audience thought a goal was coming when Jaime Borges got free with Jorge Mota in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Vasco Almeida sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 65th minute Pedro Costa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gustavo Silva saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Abel Gomes fell near the penalty area in the 70th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Almalaguez's protests and gave Abel Gomes a yellow card for diving instead. The referee gave Ponte a penalty, 71 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Adelino Araújo, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Almalaguez's Jorge Mota. 1-1. Inácio Viana fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gustavo Silva having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by David Teixeira during the 78th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Ponte getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. David Teixeira hit a great ball. Gustavo Silva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pedro Costa in the 81st minute of play. Jaime Borges fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorge Mota having to interfere. Pedro Costa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 91st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Inácio Viana might have been able to make a better finish in the 96th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gustavo Silva. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Inácio Viana ran back to his position shaking his head. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
