Amadeu Leite in the 5thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Lourenço Brás, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Sandro Carvalho charged in rather forcefully in the 8th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sandro Carvalho the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Varsea getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Sandro Carvalho hit a great ball. André Martins received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Carlos Barros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. André Martins sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Carlos Barros showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from André Martins, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. André Martins took the ball and in the 18 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Carlos Barros. Carlos Barros dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. In the 23rd minute, André Martins ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Carlos Barros was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Lourenço Brás showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tiago Guerreiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Amadeu Leite was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 31st minute. Varsea's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. 31 minutes into the game, Tiago Guerreiro recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Lourenço Brás. Tiago Guerreiro showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-2. Tiago Guerreiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 35 minutes, Armindo Aguiar mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Valonga FC and the Varsea players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Valonga FC getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Armindo Aguiar hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Valonga FC's zone, Tiago Guerreiro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lourenço Brás came out of the goal and Tiago Guerreiro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Varsea's Duarte Oliveira got a free kick in the 46th minute. After the first half Valonga FC were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. André Martins was the one to do the kick off. Lourenço Brás showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Amadeu Leite in the 52nd minute of the match. Lourenço Brás showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulo Lisboa, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Eusébio Setúbal could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Carlos Barros made a huge save. Lourenço Brás took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Amadeu Leite, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Varsea's Carlos Barros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eusébio Setúbal in the 71st minute of play. If Eusébio Setúbal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. André Martins blasted a shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Carlos Barros having to make a save. Eusébio Setúbal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Carlos Barros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Carlos Barros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from André Martins, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 80 played minutes Varsea got a freekick which was hit by Paulo Lisboa. An unexpectedly hard shot by André Martins in the 81st minute of play forced Varsea's goalkeeper Carlos Barros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Varsea booed when Valonga FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hélder Lopes didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Tiago Guerreiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
