The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Freiriz's goal looked a bit too open when Francisco Setúbal came free, but Joaquim Santos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Pedro Setúbal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Joaquim Santos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 8 minutes into the match, Nuno Cunha had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jorge Pedroso. Milhoes's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Nuno Cunha was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Francisco Ribeiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Nuno Cunha managed to get in a good position for a shot. Freiriz's supporters rose to their feet, but Nuno Cunha was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jorge Pedroso breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jorge Pedroso made a fantastic save in the 18th minute, when Nuno Cunha sent off a good shot on target. Pedro Setúbal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Joaquim Santos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Francisco Setúbal's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Joaquim Santos was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. Carlos Faria hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Milhoes's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Freiriz the free kick. After a rather tough play, Milhoes's Daniel Paredes got a free kick in the 28th minute. Milhoes's Jorge Pedroso proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 29th minute of the match, managed to save Milhoes from getting a goal against them. 36 minutes into the match, Freiriz's Francisco Ribeiro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jorge Pedroso narrowly saved just below the crossbar. During the 36th minute of the match Daniel Paredes completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Daniel Paredes a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 37th minute, Daniel Paredes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Pedro Setúbal stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Pedro Setúbal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Milhoes's Jorge Pedroso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nuno Cunha in the 62nd minute of play. Pedro Setúbal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 72nd match minute, Freiriz was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Francisco Ribeiro to maneuver through the defense. When Francisco Ribeiro was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 75 minutes had been played. Francisco Ribeiro kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. With a little luck, Freiriz's Joaquim Santos got control of the ball when Pedro Setúbal tried to sneak it across the goal line. Pedro Setúbal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquim Santos having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Freiriz's zone, Fernando Magalhães stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Joaquim Santos came out of the goal and Fernando Magalhães tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 87 minutes into the match, Freiriz's goalkeeper Joaquim Santos had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pedro Setúbal. When Francisco Setúbal came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Milhoes fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Francisco Setúbal couldn't finish the play. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
