The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After some fancy dribbling in the 4th minute, Armando Maia managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lourical FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Armando Maia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Diamantino Fonseca guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Diamantino Fonseca prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 36 minutes into the game, Lourical FC's Filipe Aguiar nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Diamantino Fonseca made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. After 39 played minutes Lourical FC got a freekick which was hit by Lourenço Machado. After 41 minutes, Basílio Simões mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lourical FC and the SC Tibo players grew even worse after the yellow card. Paulo Barbosa's late challenge caught a Lourical FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Paulo Barbosa helped the player get up and apologised. After 61 played minutes SC Tibo got a freekick which was hit by Paulo Barbosa. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
