André Moniz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. The audience was convinced that José Cruz's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but André Moniz was relentless in the 7th minute of the game. A collision led to SC Massorvia getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Duarte Pedroso hit a great ball. If David Anjos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Amadeu Araújo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. André Moniz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fábio Setúbal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without André Moniz having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Madorra FC's zone, Rui Pereira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fábio Santos came out of the goal and Rui Pereira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Fábio Santos made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rui Pereira in the 34th minute. André Moniz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from José Cruz went, in the 37th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Fábio Santos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from David Anjos in the 42nd minute of the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and David Anjos made a kick off. 55 minutes into the match, SC Massorvia's goal looked a bit too open when Amadeu Araújo came free, but André Moniz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, SC Massorvia's André Moniz got control of the ball when José Cruz tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Amadeu Araújo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 67 minutes into the match, Madorra FC's José Cruz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that André Moniz narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Rui Pereira's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fábio Santos read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 69th minute of play. If Rui Pereira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Viriato Queirós charged in rather forcefully in the 74th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Viriato Queirós the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. José Cruz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. David Anjos's late challenge caught a Madorra FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Madorra FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
