Júlio Martins made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Rui Machado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Júlio Martins having to interfere. Júlio Martins showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rui Machado in the 14th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Carlos Soares managed to get in a good position for a shot. Formela FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Carlos Soares was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Júlio Martins breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Formela FC booed when Alvor FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Henrique Barbosa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alvor FC's Armindo Cabral got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 27 minutes into the match, Formela FC's goal looked a bit too open when Amadeu Dias came free, but Rogério Castro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 32nd minute Amadeu Dias shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rogério Castro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 34th match minute, Alvor FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Albertino Henriques to maneuver through the defense. A very good chance for a goal.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rui Machado to strike the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Carlos Soares had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Júlio Martins. Alvor FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Carlos Soares was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Carlos Soares sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Amadeu Dias in the 61st minute of play forced Formela FC's goalkeeper Rogério Castro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rogério Castro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Amadeu Dias, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Rui Machado came up free with the goalie in the 76th minute, the Formela FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rui Machado couldn't finish the play. Amadeu Dias scored 1-3 in the 79th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rogério Castro, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When Armindo Cabral fell near the penalty area in the 82nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Alvor FC's protests and gave Armindo Cabral a yellow card for diving instead. Armindo Cabral kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. After 83 minutes, João Azevedo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Alvor FC and the Formela FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 83 played minutes Alvor FC got a freekick which was hit by João Azevedo. It was beautiful to see Formela FC's Óscar Santarém in action when he in the 85th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! With a little luck, Alvor FC's Júlio Martins got control of the ball when Jorge Coelho tried to sneak it across the goal line. Raul Barros's late challenge caught a Formela FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Raul Barros helped the player get up and apologised. Jorge Coelho struck a weak shot in the 91st minute. Júlio Martins didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Formela FC. Júlio Martins made an important save on a dangerous shot by Carlos Soares in the 93rd minute. The Alvor FC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Formela FC's performance. The match ended with a win for Formela FC.
