Firvidas FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Manuel Queirós was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Firvidas FC fans' excitement grew in the 23rd match minute when Firvidas FC's Adelino Neto looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Manuel Queirós fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Luz having to interfere. If Adelino Neto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Firvidas FC's Carlos Resende got control of the ball when Emílio Branco tried to sneak it across the goal line. Cristiano Setúbal's late challenge caught a Firvidas FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cristiano Setúbal helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Firvidas FC booed when Cotem FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristiano Setúbal didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Firvidas FC's zone, Rafael Lisboa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Carlos Resende came out of the goal and Rafael Lisboa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. José Luz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Manuel Queirós, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

In the 54th minute, Manuel Queirós left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Firvidas FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. After 61 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Firvidas FC! Cristiano Setúbal got his second yellow card in the match during the 65th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. When Manuel Queirós came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Firvidas FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Manuel Queirós couldn't finish the play.
