After 17 played minutes, Varge's Miguel Pinto shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Adolfo Cruz came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Varge reached it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cândido Alves in the 20th minute of play forced Varge's goalkeeper Lourenço Moutinho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 20th minute, Cândido Alves ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Lourenço Moutinho was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Reis in the 24th minute of play forced SC Pelhaes's goalkeeper Adolfo Cruz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 30th minute, José Reis got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The wind increased when José Reis made the kick off in the second half. Delfim Brito ran back to his position shaking his head. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Cândido Alves managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Pelhaes's supporters rose to their feet, but Cândido Alves was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post.
