Guistolinha's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SC Gramatinha the free kick. After 18 minutes, Alfredo Leite mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SC Gramatinha and the Guistolinha players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 17th minute, one of SC Gramatinha:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for SC Gramatinha. In the 20th minute there was a penalty for Guistolinha. Filipe Nunes stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Jorge Antunes. 0-2. Alexandre Sousa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorge Antunes having to interfere. João Vianas short, quick shot in the 32ndth minute got Américo Vieira to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. If André Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Vicente Azevedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After the first half Guistolinha were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Vicente Azevedo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The SC Gramatinha fans' excitement grew in the 54th match minute when SC Gramatinha's João Viana looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. SC Gramatinha's Jorge Antunes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 59th minute of the match, managed to save SC Gramatinha from getting a goal against them. In the 60th match minute, SC Gramatinha was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eduardo Carvalho to maneuver through the defense. In the 64thth minute of the game André Costa who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SC Gramatinha's Jorge Antunes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 66 minutes into the match, SC Gramatinha's goalkeeper Jorge Antunes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alexandre Sousa. 71 minutes into the match, Guistolinha's goal looked a bit too open when João Viana came free, but Américo Vieira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Américo Vieira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vicente Azevedo in the 75th minute of the match. Guistolinha's Luís Pinto got his second yellow card of the match in the 83rd minute. The referee ordered Luís Pinto off the ground. The supporters of SC Gramatinha booed when Guistolinha was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luís Pinto didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 86 minutes Guistolinha's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Alfredo Leite who took care of the corner kick. In the game's 87th minute SC Gramatinha's Alfredo Leite took a hard shot from long distance, a kick which went into the net just to the right of Américo Vieira and thus the score was 2-3. After having played for 97 minutes, João Viana managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Gramatinha's supporters crossed their fingers, but João Viana was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The SC Gramatinha manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Guistolinha to win.
