The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Bruno Viegas fell near the penalty area in the 3rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Grova's protests and gave Bruno Viegas a yellow card for diving instead. Bruno Viegas hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. Hugo Almeida was out of position in the 7 minute of play, and Joaquim Pedroso capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Joaquim Pedroso really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. After 11 minutes, Cândido Machado mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SC Grova and the Fundao players grew even worse after the yellow card. 15 minutes into the match, Henrique Gueifão notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Fundao's Alexandre Baptista. Alexandre Baptista was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The supporters of Fundao booed when SC Grova was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bruno Viegas didn't get a good kick on the ball. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The Hugo Almeida was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. 71 minutes into the match, SC Grova's goal looked a bit too open when Joaquim Pedroso came free, but Hugo Almeida reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. SC Grova's João Santos got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 78thth minute of the game Joaquim Pedroso who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SC Grova's Hugo Almeida was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Henrique Gueifão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Alexandre Baptista tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Joaquim Pedroso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hugo Almeida having to interfere. After 84 minutes of play, Fundao's Joaquim Pedroso made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Hugo Almeida was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Joaquim Pedroso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fundao were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of SC Grova for a fine match.
