João Setúbal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristiano Ferreira having to interfere. Candeiro's Cristiano Ferreira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by João Gomes in the 22nd minute of play. In the 23rd minute of the match David Abreu shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mariano Dias showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 30th minute Carlos Oliveira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mariano Dias saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Carlos Pedroso managed to get in a good position for a shot. Candeiro's supporters rose to their feet, but Carlos Pedroso was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mariano Dias breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 43 minutes, João Gomes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Cavaleira's supporters crossed their fingers, but João Gomes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Cristiano Ferreira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Gomes, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. 57 minutes into the match, Candeiro's goal looked a bit too open when João Setúbal came free, but Cristiano Ferreira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. SC Cavaleira's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Carlos Oliveira was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. After a defensive mix-up in SC Cavaleira's zone, Carlos Oliveira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mariano Dias came out of the goal and Carlos Oliveira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 88 minutes into the game, Fernando Porto was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SC Cavaleira's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Candeiro the free kick. The supporters of Candeiro booed when SC Cavaleira was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fernando Porto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Candeiro were awarded a corner in the 91th minute after SC Cavaleira's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Bento Fontes took the corner. After 93 minutes, Inácio Lima mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Candeiro and the SC Cavaleira players grew even worse after the yellow card.
