When Humberto Sá fell near the penalty area in the 8th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gontariz's protests and gave Humberto Sá a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Gontariz's Humberto Sá got a free kick in the 8th minute. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

After some careless play in the Gontariz defense, Eduardo Baptista kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Pedro Sá. The Gontariz fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Pedro Sá should have stopped the shot. After a defensive mix-up in Junca's zone, Simão Viana stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Adolfo Matias came out of the goal and Simão Viana tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Junca's Adolfo Matias proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 86th minute of the match, managed to save Junca from getting a goal against them. Simão Viana might have been able to make a better finish in the 90th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Adolfo Matias. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Simão Viana ran back to his position shaking his head. For all the effort they put into the match, the Gontariz players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Junca.
