The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Delfim Coimbra hit a great freekick 2 minutes into the match. Nuno Delgado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Albertino Leiria having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nuno Delgado in the 5th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Albertino Leiria saved Forneas from getting behind. A collision led to Forneas getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Delfim Coimbra hit a great ball. Nuno Delgado recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 11th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 17th minute, Américo Ferreira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Forneas's zone, Américo Ferreira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Albertino Leiria came out of the goal and Américo Ferreira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Camachos's Hélder Correia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vítor Moreira in the 38th minute of play. If Nuno Delgado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Paulo Oliveira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Hélder Correia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vítor Moreira, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. Nuno Delgado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Albertino Leiria tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Nuno Delgado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee gave Camachos a penalty, 71 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Delfim Gaspar, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Forneas's Albertino Leiria. 0-1. In the 75th minute the ball was on its way in behind Forneas's goalkeeper Albertino Leiria, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Américo Ferreira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Albertino Leiria having to interfere. Albertino Leiria showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nuno Delgado, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. A collision led to Forneas getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Delfim Viana hit a great ball. In the 86th minute Nuno Delgado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Albertino Leiria saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Albertino Leiria made an important save on a dangerous shot by Américo Ferreira in the 94th minute. Camachos's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
