From close distance Domingos Vale pressed in the 1-0 goal high up into nets stiches in the right cross 4 minutes into the game. If Humberto Aguiar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 13 minutes into the match, SC Atenor's goal looked a bit too open when Catarino Silva came free, but Rui Lima reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Domingos Vale came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the SC Atenor fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Domingos Vale couldn't finish the play. Jorge Dantas charged in rather forcefully in the 16th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jorge Dantas the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 29th minute, Álvaro Cardoso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Catarino Silva received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Rui Lima tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Humberto Aguiar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Daniel Gonçalves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Humberto Lima, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Humberto Aguiar to strike the kick off in the second half. Lares FC's Daniel Gonçalves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Domingos Vale in the 53rd minute of play. A collision led to SC Atenor getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Delfim Lisboa hit a great ball. Humberto Aguiar might have been able to make a better finish in the 65th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rui Lima. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Humberto Aguiar ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of Lares FC booed when SC Atenor was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Miguel Paiva didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Catarino Silva came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Lares FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Catarino Silva couldn't finish the play. Domingos Vale received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Daniel Gonçalves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Daniel Gonçalves dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. When Humberto Lima came up free with the goalie in the 80th minute, the SC Atenor fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Humberto Lima couldn't finish the play. André Nunes kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. In the 97th minute Humberto Aguiar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rui Lima saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. For all the effort they put into the match, the Lares FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for SC Atenor.
