Sebastião Moniz's late challenge caught a Monsarros's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sebastião Moniz helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to SC Pateo getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Sebastião Moniz hit a great ball. When Mariano Cabral came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the SC Pateo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mariano Cabral couldn't finish the play. After having played for 27 minutes, Afonso Henriques managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Pateo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Afonso Henriques was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lúcio Setúbal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mariano Cabral in the 31st minute of play. Afonso Henriques sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Monsarros's Armindo Abreu in the 38th minute got a chance for a shot 38th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye SC Pateo's goalie prevented a goal. After 39 played minutes SC Pateo got a freekick which was hit by João Dias. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ricardo Pinho to strike the kick off in the second half. André Antunes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ricardo Pinho in the 62nd minute of play. Armindo Abreu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without André Antunes having to interfere. In the 68th minute the ball was on its way in behind SC Pateo's goalkeeper André Antunes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. SC Pateo's Mariano Cabral got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 71 minutes into the match, Monsarros's goal looked a bit too open when Mariano Cabral came free, but Lúcio Setúbal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. André Antunes was a little too slow when Ricardo Pinho got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 74th minute. The score was now 0-1. Afonso Henriques fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lúcio Setúbal having to interfere. André Antunes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ricardo Pinho, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Monsarros eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
