When Armindo Abreu came up free with the goalie in the 10th minute, the Monsarros fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Armindo Abreu couldn't finish the play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 16th minute of the game. One of Monsarros:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of SC Alcanhoes:s goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ricardo Ribeiro in the 33rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Lúcio Setúbal prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 37 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Monsarros! Ricardo Pinho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Álvaro Maia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Álvaro Maia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ricardo Pinho in the 45th minute of play.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ricardo Ribeiro made a kick off. 53 minutes into the game, Armindo Abreu cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-3. Álvaro Maia was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ricardo Pinho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Augusto Vaz's late challenge caught a SC Alcanhoes's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Augusto Vaz helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of SC Alcanhoes booed when Monsarros was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Augusto Vaz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristóvão Nunes was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 62nd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. José Pedroso hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. Cristóvão Nunes, 67 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Cristóvão Nunes's late challenge caught a Monsarros's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. In the 69th minute, one of SC Alcanhoes:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for SC Alcanhoes. When the match had been going on for 71 minutes, Monsarros's Eduardo Torres got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Álvaro Maia. Ricardo Ribeiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 77 minutes into the match, SC Alcanhoes's goal looked a bit too open when Ricardo Pinho came free, but Álvaro Maia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Armindo Abreu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. João Valente scored 4-4 in the 96th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Lúcio Setúbal, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Monsarros were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
