A collision led to Carrical FC getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Humberto Viegas hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 7th minute, Pedro Guarda managed to get in a good position for a shot. Espinheiro's supporters rose to their feet, but Pedro Guarda was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fernando Faro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Pedro Guarda came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the Espinheiro fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pedro Guarda couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pedro Guarda in the 12th minute of play forced Carrical FC's goalkeeper Fernando Faro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Carrical FC's Fernando Faro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Cruz in the 13th minute of play. The supporters of Carrical FC booed when Espinheiro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Simão Melo didn't get a good kick on the ball. After recieving a nice pass, Carrical FC's Emanuel Pinheiro tried to score from far away in the 15th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Espinheiro's Carlos Cruz got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 18th match minute, Carrical FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nuno Macedo to maneuver through the defense. In the 20th minute of the match João Fonseca shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Fernando Faro showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Gaspar Reis's late challenge caught a Espinheiro's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gaspar Reis helped the player get up and apologised. Gaspar Reis kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Carrical FC's Fernando Faro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Cruz in the 23rd minute of play. Luís Aguiar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tomás Guarda having to interfere. In the 30th minute, Carrical FC's Luís Aguiar dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. 33 minutes into the match, Carlos Cruz notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Carrical FC's Fernando Faro. Fernando Faro was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Vítor Matos charged in rather forcefully in the 36th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Vítor Matos the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 36 played minutes Carrical FC got a freekick which was hit by Vítor Matos. 39 minutes into the match, Gonçalo Mendes notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Espinheiro's Tomás Guarda. Tomás Guarda was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Pedro Guarda fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernando Faro having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

Pedro Guarda in the 56thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Fernando Faro, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Gonçalo Mendes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Tomás Guarda tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 65th match minute, Espinheiro was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by José Baptista to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Espinheiro booed when Carrical FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Diogo Queirós didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Carlos Cruz kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Fernando Faro. That made the score 2-2 in the 90 minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Cristiano Coimbra during the 94th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 94th minute, Cristiano Coimbra hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Carlos Cruz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 96th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
