The audience was convinced that Armindo Gomes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Cláudio Melo was relentless in the 4th minute of the game. In the 7th minute Mário Carneiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cláudio Melo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 13 minutes into the game, Armindo Gomes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Cláudio Melo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 25th minute, Mário Carneiro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Armindo Gomes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Cláudio Melo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Armindo Gomes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 34th minute, Armindo Gomes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jorge Machado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lourenço Castro, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. In the 37th minute, Sebastião Dantas fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Jorge Machado, passed just outside the right post. After a defensive mix-up in SC Cais's zone, Sebastião Dantas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jorge Machado came out of the goal and Sebastião Dantas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sebastião Dantas in the 45thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Jorge Machado, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Lourenço Castro made a kick off. In the 51st match minute, Azoio FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fernando Rodrigues to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 54 minutes, Lourenço Castro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Azoio FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lourenço Castro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 58 minutes into the match, SC Cais's goal looked a bit too open when Lourenço Castro came free, but Jorge Machado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Mário Carneiro managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Cais's supporters rose to their feet, but Mário Carneiro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cláudio Melo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Cláudio Melo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mário Carneiro in the 69th minute. After 70 minutes, Gabriel Cunha mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Azoio FC and the SC Cais players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Azoio FC's Gabriel Cunha got a free kick in the 70th minute. With a little luck, Azoio FC's Cláudio Melo got control of the ball when Mário Carneiro tried to sneak it across the goal line. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. SC Cais walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
