Hélder Machado was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The supporters of SC Cais booed when SC Forjaes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rui Guerreiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 20 minutes of play, SC Forjaes's Pedro Barros made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jorge Machado was left in no man's land by his defense there! After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Rodrigo Assunção managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Cais's supporters rose to their feet, but Rodrigo Assunção was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hélder Machado breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Mário Carneiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jorge Machado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lourenço Valente in the 45th minute of the match. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Pedro Barros made the kick off in the second half. Pedro Barros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorge Machado having to interfere. 56 minutes into the match, SC Forjaes's goal looked a bit too open when Rodrigo Assunção came free, but Hélder Machado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Rodrigo Assunção had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Jorge Machado came out and tried to block the shot, but Lourenço Valente slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 66th minute. Mário Carneiro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 70th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lourenço Valente got free with Jorge Machado in the 82nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pedro Barros in the 83rd minute of play forced SC Cais's goalkeeper Jorge Machado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, SC Cais's Cândido Aguiar got a free kick in the 84th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 90th minute, Viriato Fernandes managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Cais's supporters rose to their feet, but Viriato Fernandes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hélder Machado breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
