When Verdelhos's Alexandre Fontes in 19 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Amadeu Cabral guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. David Azevedo's late challenge caught a Verdelhos's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After 24 minutes, Basílio Maia mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Laveiras and the Verdelhos players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Laveiras getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Basílio Maia hit a great ball. 25 minutes into the match, Laveiras's goalkeeper Amadeu Cabral had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alexandre Fontes. After 26 played minutes Laveiras got a freekick which was hit by Rogério Maia. The supporters of Verdelhos booed when Laveiras was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rogério Maia didn't get a good kick on the ball. José Nogueira, 32 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Fernando Amaral received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Adolfo Monteiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Alexandre Fontes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
