In the 4th minute, one of SC Cabanelas:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for SC Cabanelas. Lourenço Silva shot the penalty kick right outside the post. Viriato Queirós fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Miguel Barros having to interfere. When SC Alvaraes's Pedro Figueiredo in the 10th minute got a chance for a shot 10th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye SC Cabanelas's goalie prevented a goal. 14 minutes into the match, SC Cabanelas's goal looked a bit too open when Pedro Figueiredo came free, but Miguel Barros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to SC Cabanelas getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Óscar Pires hit a great ball. Pedro Figueiredo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Pedro Figueiredo, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 29 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Miguel Barros was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. David Castro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sebastião Sá got in the 40th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Oliveira Morais handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. After 48 minutes, David Castro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SC Cabanelas and the SC Alvaraes players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to SC Cabanelas getting a freekick after 48 minutes play. David Castro hit a great ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Pedro Figueiredo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. SC Cabanelas's Miguel Barros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Viriato Queirós in the 52nd minute of play. When the match clock showed 56 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Sebastião Sá sped through SC Alvaraes's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Oliveira Morais. Miguel Barros showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Álvaro Maia, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. SC Cabanelas's Sebastião Sá got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 76th minute Pedro Figueiredo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Miguel Barros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 76 minutes of play, SC Alvaraes's Pedro Figueiredo made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Miguel Barros was left in no man's land by his defense there! When Álvaro Maia fell near the penalty area in the 79th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Alvaraes's protests and gave Álvaro Maia a yellow card for diving instead. The crowd rose to their feet as SC Cabanelas's Sebastião Sá slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Oliveira Morais. That made the score 1-2 after 88 minutes of play. Miguel Barros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Viriato Queirós, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. SC Cabanelas had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
