With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gustavo Barbosa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Jorge Matias fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gustavo Barbosa having to interfere. When Rui Pinheiro fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Paus FC's protests and gave Rui Pinheiro a yellow card for diving instead. After 26 played minutes Paus FC got a freekick which was hit by Rui Pinheiro. Sandro Gueifão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Gustavo Barbosa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Paus FC's Marco Carneiro in the 33rd minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Cândido Fernandes was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for SC Cortecega through an amazing save. Cândido Fernandes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marco Carneiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. In the 54th minute, Sandro Gueifão got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When António Miranda fell near the penalty area in the 64th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Cortecega's protests and gave António Miranda a yellow card for diving instead. After 66 played minutes, Paus FC's Rui Pinheiro shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Cândido Fernandes came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Paus FC reached it. 72 minutes into the match, David Maia notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of SC Cortecega's Cândido Fernandes. Cândido Fernandes was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Gustavo Barbosa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jorge Matias, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. SC Cortecega's Cândido Fernandes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Maia in the 79th minute of play.
