The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Rui Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ricardo Costa struck a weak shot in the 4th minute. Delfim Miranda didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Pedroes. In the 6th minute João Carneiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Delfim Miranda saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sebastião Pires got free with André Paiva in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Sebastião Pires fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without André Paiva having to interfere. Rui Costa's late challenge caught a Peroleite FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rui Costa helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Peroleite FC booed when SC Pedroes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rui Costa didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Sebastião Pires managed to get in a good position for a shot. Peroleite FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Sebastião Pires was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. André Paiva breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Joel Castro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. André Paiva tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 26 minutes into the game, Joel Castro recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of André Paiva. Joel Castro showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. In the 30th minute, one of Peroleite FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Peroleite FC. If Sebastião Pires had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Joel Castro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Sebastião Pires came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Peroleite FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sebastião Pires couldn't finish the play. Joel Castro struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. André Paiva didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Peroleite FC. André Paiva showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel Castro, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when João Carneiro stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The referee ignored Peroleite FC's protests and gave Eduardo Soares a yellow card for diving instead. In the 91st minute, Eduardo Soares hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of SC Pedroes booed when Peroleite FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bento Torres didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Peroleite FC had won after a very even match.
