The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Joel Freitas struck a weak shot in the 3rd minute. When Abel Coimbra fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Miro's protests and gave Abel Coimbra a yellow card for diving instead. Abel Coimbra hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. If Vasco Resende had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Miro fans' excitement grew in the 10th match minute when Miro's Vasco Resende looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 16th minute, Vasco Resende got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Miro's Cândido Dias proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to save Miro from getting a goal against them. Nuno Rodrigues might have been able to make a better finish in the 31st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Vítor Correia. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. In the 53rd minute Miro were awarded a corner. Ricardo Matias went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Ricardo Matias got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Vítor Correia quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Joel Freitas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 65th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 66 minutes, Simão Nascimento mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Miro and the SC Biqueiras players grew even worse after the yellow card.
