Alexandre Fonseca started the match with the kick off. Sandro Ferreira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bernardo Barros having to interfere. Mário Diass short, quick shot in the 15thth minute got Vítor Cardoso to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Emílio Trindade made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 18thth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Vítor Cardoso would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. Filipe Amaro hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. In the 21st minute of the match Manuel Tavares shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Vítor Cardoso showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 32nd minute, Gabriel Domingues got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 36th minute of the match Alfredo Pereira sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Bernardo Barros skillfully saved the ball. In the 37th minute Sandro Ferreira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bernardo Barros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match clock showed 42 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Sandro Ferreira sped through SC Cancela's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Bernardo Barros. Vítor Cardoso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alexandre Fonseca, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Filipe Amaro in the 47th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Vítor Cardoso saved Barroso from getting behind. After the first half Barroso were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sandro Ferreira was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emílio Trindade in the 58th minute of play forced Barroso's goalkeeper Vítor Cardoso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. SC Cancela were awarded a corner in the 62th minute after Barroso's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Delfim Neto took the corner. The corner ended in Delfim Neto almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Barroso's Vítor Cardoso did a great save.
