The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Manuel Amaral kicked well hit freekick during the 2nd minute of the match. Pedro Queirós didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Penilhos. In the 13th minute, Nuno Alves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. SC Penilhos's Carlos Tavares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eusébio Campos in the 19th minute of play. Filipe Paiva charged in rather forcefully in the 21st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Filipe Paiva the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 21 played minutes SC Vales got a freekick which was hit by Filipe Paiva. SC Penilhos's Jacinto Silva couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for SC Vales. If Afonso Dantas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Filipe Paiva kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. SC Penilhos's Carlos Tavares proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 26th minute of the match, managed to save SC Penilhos from getting a goal against them. In the 29th minute, Afonso Dantas made a precise shot to the right of Pedro Queirós. SC Vales's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. 33 minutes into the match, SC Vales's goal looked a bit too open when Paulo Henriques came free, but Pedro Queirós reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cândido Pires's late challenge caught a SC Penilhos's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cândido Pires didn't get a good kick on the ball. SC Penilhos's Paulo Henriques got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Artur Azevedo succeeded in the game's 37th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-1. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Afonso Dantas made a kick off. In the 54th minute the ball was on its way in behind SC Vales's goalkeeper Pedro Queirós, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Artur Azevedo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Carlos Tavares having to make a save. When Afonso Dantas came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the SC Penilhos fans jumped to their feet.
