After a defensive mix-up in Mesquinhata's zone, Basílio Nogueira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tomás Fernandes came out of the goal and Basílio Nogueira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cassaca's Basílio Nogueira got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Basílio Nogueira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Tomás Fernandes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Manuel Veiga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 38 minutes Cassaca's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Lúcio Leão who took care of the corner kick. Mesquinhata's Paulo Moniz was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Mariano Gueifão in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Mesquinhata fans cheered their team off the field, for while Cassaca had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
