Duarte Pinho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Cristóvão Almeida tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Catarino Vaz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 10th minute, Catarino Vaz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gonçalo Martins sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Jaime Rocha fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Pontegaos FC's protests and gave Jaime Rocha a yellow card for diving instead. Jaime Rocha hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. In the 23rd minute Duarte Pinho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristóvão Almeida saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Pontegaos FC getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Gonçalo Martins hit a great ball. If Alexandre Nascimento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Daniel Morais fell near the penalty area in the 30th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Pontegaos FC's protests and gave Daniel Morais a yellow card for diving instead. In the 30th match minute, Pontegaos FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Daniel Morais to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Alexandre Nascimento in the 32nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Cristóvão Almeida prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 32nd match minute, Pontegaos FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gonçalo Martins to maneuver through the defense. Duarte Sousa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Artur Amaral read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 35th minute of play. Inácio Gomes hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Catarino Vaz got free with Artur Amaral in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Cristóvão Almeida took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Duarte Pinho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Duarte Pinho came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the SC Gem fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Duarte Pinho couldn't finish the play. Catarino Vaz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Artur Amaral having to interfere. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Duarte Sousa was the one to do the kick off. SC Gem's Artur Amaral played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Duarte Sousa in the 52nd minute of play. 60 minutes into the game, one of SC Gem:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 75th minute, Catarino Vaz ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Artur Amaral was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. A collision led to Pontegaos FC getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Amadeu Faro hit a great ball. In the 80th minute, Sebastião Melo sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Pontegaos FC's Cristóvão Almeida didn't even have to move. If Alexandre Nascimento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Duarte Sousa during the 88th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The audience was convinced that Duarte Pinho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Cristóvão Almeida was relentless in the 91st minute of the game. Alexandre Nascimento recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 96th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. For all the effort they put into the match, the SC Gem players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Pontegaos FC.
