The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Pedro Barros kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. After having played for 4 minutes, Manuel Cruz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pedrulheira FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Manuel Cruz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. SC Mindel's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Rui Leiria 7 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. 13 minutes into the match, SC Mindel's goal looked a bit too open when Rui Leiria came free, but João Faria reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 14 minutes into the match, SC Mindel's Paulo Cruz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Duarte Baptista narrowly saved just below the crossbar. A collision led to Pedrulheira FC getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Hugo Almeida hit a great ball. In the 24th minute, Manuel Cruz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Duarte Baptista showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paulo Cruz in the 28th minute of the match. 29 minutes into the match, Pedrulheira FC's goal looked a bit too open when Paulo Cruz came free, but Duarte Baptista reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Augusto Figueiredo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 30th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Paulo Cruz managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Mindel's supporters rose to their feet, but Paulo Cruz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Duarte Baptista breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 33 minutes into the match, Armando Assis had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Duarte Baptista. Pedrulheira FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Armando Assis was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. 39 minutes into the match, SC Mindel's goalkeeper João Faria had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hugo Almeida. An unexpectedly hard shot by Armando Assis in the 42nd minute of play forced Pedrulheira FC's goalkeeper Duarte Baptista to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rui Leiria might have been able to make a better finish in the 44th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over João Faria. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rui Leiria ran back to his position shaking his head. With a little luck, SC Mindel's João Faria got control of the ball when Hugo Almeida tried to sneak it across the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Armando Assis made the kick off in the second half. After 52 played minutes, SC Mindel's Tiago Paiva shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Duarte Baptista came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in SC Mindel reached it. A hard shot 57 in the game by Paulo Cruz from a close distance when the talented Duarte Baptista managed to make a qualified save. Pedrulheira FC's players were relieved. Hugo Almeida fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Faria having to interfere. With a little luck, Pedrulheira FC's Duarte Baptista got control of the ball when Paulo Cruz tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Paulo Cruz got free with Duarte Baptista in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 71st minute, Rui Leiria ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. João Faria was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Rui Leiria struck a weak shot in the 77th minute. João Faria didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pedrulheira FC. Rui Leiria sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
