José Assis's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but António Assunção read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 17th minute of play. In the 18thth minute of the game André Miranda who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Derriada's António Assunção was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Derriada's António Assunção played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by André Miranda in the 20th minute of play. 2-0 became the score in the 22nd minute when Sérgio Cardoso elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. 28 minutes into the match, Lobato's goalkeeper Domingos Vieira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Oliveira Magalhães. In the 30th minute of the match, Sérgio Cardoso tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Domingos Vieira saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. José Assis's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but António Assunção read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 38th minute of play. When Nuno Pinheiro fell near the penalty area in the 38th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Derriada's protests and gave Nuno Pinheiro a yellow card for diving instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When Oliveira Magalhães came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Derriada fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Oliveira Magalhães couldn't finish the play. In the 58th minute André Miranda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but António Assunção saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Oliveira Magalhães had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. António Assunção took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from André Miranda, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 65 minutes, Manuel Borges mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lobato and the Derriada players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Derriada booed when Lobato was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Manuel Borges didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Lobato getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Nuno Ferro hit a great ball. Pedro Azevedo kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. António Assunção showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from André Miranda in the 77th minute of the match. When Manuel Borges was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 82 minutes had been played. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
