The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Alexandre Assunção made a fantastic save in the 3rd minute, when Manuel Martins sent off a good shot on target. Benquerenca FC's Pedro Vale was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 4th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Mário Soares kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. Cristiano Trindade received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Humberto Anjos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 12 played minutes Benquerenca FC got a freekick which was hit by Emílio Miranda. Xavier Borges, 12 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. A collision led to Romarigaes getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Manuel Marques hit a great ball. Alexandre Assunção made an important save on a dangerous shot by Manuel Martins in the 22nd minute. Romarigaes's Alexandre Assunção proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 23rd minute of the match, managed to save Romarigaes from getting a goal against them. When Mário Soares fell near the penalty area in the 27th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Benquerenca FC's protests and gave Mário Soares a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Benquerenca FC getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Mário Soares hit a great ball. Alexandre Assunção showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pedro Vale, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. If Pedro Vale had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cristiano Trindade received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Humberto Anjos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Carlos Machado to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Benquerenca FC's zone, Cristiano Trindade stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Humberto Anjos came out of the goal and Cristiano Trindade tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cristiano Trindade recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Romarigaes's Carlos Machado got a good chance for a goal in the 62nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cristiano Trindade fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Humberto Anjos having to interfere. 67 minutes into the match, Benquerenca FC's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Machado came free, but Humberto Anjos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Manuel Martins had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Benquerenca FC's Humberto Anjos proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 75th minute of the match, managed to save Benquerenca FC from getting a goal against them. Pedro Vale received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Alexandre Assunção tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Pedro Vale came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Benquerenca FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pedro Vale couldn't finish the play. In the 85th match minute, Benquerenca FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Delfim Dantas to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Xavier Borges managed to get in a good position for a shot. Romarigaes's supporters rose to their feet, but Xavier Borges was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Humberto Anjos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Humberto Anjos made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristiano Trindade in the 89th minute. Cristiano Trindade received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Humberto Anjos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 97 minutes into the match, Pedro Vale had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Alexandre Assunção. Romarigaes's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Pedro Vale was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0.
