In the 29th minute Jorge Borges shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Armando Setúbal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With an all-out effort, Zimbreira's Eusébio Silva threw himself towards the right post 59 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Gaspar Moura, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 80th match minute, Mosteiros was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rafael Leiria to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Zimbreira's zone, Jorge Borges stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Armando Setúbal came out of the goal and Jorge Borges tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. António Gonçalves hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. Armando Setúbal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Armando Tavares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
