José Leal came out of the goal and Manuel Luz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by João Vale in the 18th minute of play forced SC Gontijas's goalkeeper Daniel Cabral to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 23 minutes into the match, SC Gontijas's goal looked a bit too open when João Vale came free, but Daniel Cabral reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Bruno Marques had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a rather tough play, SC Gontijas's Armindo Leiria got a free kick in the 28th minute. Daniel Cabral made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luís Moura in the 32nd minute. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. João Vale was the one to do the kick off. Bruno Marques fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Leal having to interfere. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. SC Gontijas had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
