When Fernando Martins came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Palhacana FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fernando Martins couldn't finish the play. After some careless play in the Palhacana FC defense, Rui Santarém kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nuno Machado. The Palhacana FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nuno Machado should have stopped the shot. 28 minutes into the match, Tremocais's goalkeeper Albertino Guerreiro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fernando Martins. 29 minutes into the game, Luís Antunes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Tremocais's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Palhacana FC the free kick. A collision led to Tremocais getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. In the 30th minute Fernando Martins shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Albertino Guerreiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nuno Machado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rui Santarém, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Rodrigo Abreu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luís Antunes was extremely unlucky when he, in the 70th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Jaime Torres's late challenge caught a Palhacana FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jaime Torres helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Palhacana FC booed when Tremocais was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jaime Torres didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fernando Martins sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
