The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute the ball was on its way in behind Guistolinha's goalkeeper Vítor Andrade, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 6th minute Emanuel Garcia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Américo Moura saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Américo Moura didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alexandre Faro went, in the 9th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alexandre Faro in the 14th minute of play forced Maroufenha FC's goalkeeper Américo Moura to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alexandre Faro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Maroufenha FC's Américo Moura played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alexandre Faro in the 17th minute of play. Américo Moura showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emanuel Garcia, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. After having played for 20 minutes, Alexandre Faro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Guistolinha's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alexandre Faro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Maroufenha FC booed when Guistolinha was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Basílio Amaral didn't get a good kick on the ball. Emílio Barros, 28 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. If Alexandre Faro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 38 minutes into the game, Basílio Amaral was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Guistolinha's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Maroufenha FC the free kick. After a rather tough play, Guistolinha's Basílio Amaral got a free kick in the 38th minute. Cristiano Santos blasted a shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Vítor Andrade having to make a save. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.
Américo Moura showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alexandre Faro, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. A collision led to Guistolinha getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Nuno Fernandes hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Maroufenha FC's Luís Antunes got a free kick in the 57th minute. After recieving a nice pass, Guistolinha's Basílio Amaral tried to score from far away in the 58th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Alexandre Faro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Américo Moura having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Armando Antunes in the 68th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vítor Andrade prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Alexandre Faro might have been able to make a better finish in the 69th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Américo Moura. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Alexandre Faro ran back to his position shaking his head. After having played for 73 minutes, Cristiano Santos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Maroufenha FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristiano Santos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Carlos Castro charged in rather forcefully in the 74th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Carlos Castro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 76th minute the ball was on its way in behind Maroufenha FC's goalkeeper Américo Moura, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Américo Moura made a fantastic save in the 78th minute, when Emanuel Garcia sent off a good shot on target. In the 82nd match minute, Maroufenha FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emílio Barros to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Maroufenha FC's Américo Moura got control of the ball when Emanuel Garcia tried to sneak it across the goal line. Guistolinha's Basílio Amaral couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 91st minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Maroufenha FC. Alexandre Faro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Américo Moura tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Guistolinha's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
