The audience thought a goal was coming when Artur Moniz got free with Júlio Guarda in the 7th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Artur Moniz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Júlio Guarda tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Sérgio Gueifão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Carlos Vale kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. 28 minutes into the game, Fábio Anjos recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Júlio Guarda. Fábio Anjos showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. When Afonso Simões fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Pincho's protests and gave Afonso Simões a yellow card for diving instead. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sérgio Gueifão was the one to do the kick off. Encourados's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
