If Cristiano Ferreira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 7th minute, Alexandre Correia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cristiano Ferreira struck a weak shot in the 9th minute. Álvaro Baptista didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Santiago. In the 11th minute, Cristóvão Paiva left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The SC Papanata fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Cristóvão Paiva fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristóvão Morais having to interfere. Cristiano Aleixo hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Augusto Delgado in the 18th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cristóvão Morais saved SC Santiago from getting behind. 26 minutes into the match, SC Santiago's Daniel Guarda sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Álvaro Baptista narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Daniel Guarda received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Álvaro Baptista tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 29th match minute, SC Papanata was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fernando Vale to maneuver through the defense. Cristóvão Morais made a fantastic save in the 34th minute, when Cristóvão Paiva sent off a good shot on target. Augusto Delgado might have been able to make a better finish in the 38th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cristóvão Morais. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Augusto Delgado ran back to his position shaking his head. Augusto Delgado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristóvão Morais having to interfere. If Cristóvão Paiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Cristiano Ferreira to strike the kick off in the second half. Álvaro Baptista showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristiano Ferreira in the 59th minute of the match. In the 64th minute Cristiano Ferreira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Álvaro Baptista saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Eusébio Dias fell near the penalty area in the 65th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Santiago's protests and gave Eusébio Dias a yellow card for diving instead. After 65 played minutes SC Santiago got a freekick which was hit by Eusébio Dias. Cristóvão Morais showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Augusto Delgado, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. If Daniel Guarda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, SC Papanata's António Sá got a free kick in the 70th minute. Cristiano Ferreira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Álvaro Baptista having to interfere. After 82 minutes, Alexandre Correia mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SC Papanata and the SC Santiago players grew even worse after the yellow card. Alexandre Correia hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. After 85 minutes SC Papanata's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Sebastião Baptista who took care of the corner kick. The corner went over the outstretched arms of SC Papanata's goalie and right to Joaquim Pacheco. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. SC Papanata's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristiano Ferreira in the 88th minute of play forced SC Papanata's goalkeeper Álvaro Baptista to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 92 minutes into the match, SC Santiago's goal looked a bit too open when Augusto Delgado came free, but Cristóvão Morais reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Cristiano Ferreira came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the SC Santiago fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristiano Ferreira couldn't finish the play.
