The audience thought a goal was coming when Bruno Gomes got free with António Garcia in the 7th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Inácio Monteiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Manuel Moura in the 11th minute of the match. Bruno Gomes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without António Garcia having to interfere. Manuel Moura scored 0-1 in the 18th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Inácio Monteiro, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Manuel Moura sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 25 minutes into the match, Cancelo's goal looked a bit too open when Manuel Moura came free, but Inácio Monteiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Adelino Machado recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bruno Gomes in the 30th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg António Garcia saved Esculca from getting behind. Adelino Machado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without António Garcia having to interfere. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 36th minute of the game. One of Cancelo:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Esculca:s goal. In the 38th minute there was a penalty for Esculca. Jacinto Ferro stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Inácio Monteiro. 0-2. Cancelo's Inácio Monteiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Manuel Moura in the 41st minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Adelino Machado got free with António Garcia in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 47th minute, Manuel Moura got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.
After a rather tough play, Cancelo's Sandro Paredes got a free kick in the 56th minute. Manuel Moura recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Manuel Moura had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Inácio Monteiro was a little too slow when Manuel Moura got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 65th minute. The score was now 0-3. In the 67th match minute, Esculca was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joaquim Aleixo to maneuver through the defense. The audience was convinced that Bruno Gomes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but António Garcia was relentless in the 70th minute of the game. Adelino Machado blasted a shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without António Garcia having to make a save. When Cancelo's Bruno Gomes in the 75th minute got a chance for a shot 75th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Esculca's goalie prevented a goal. In the 78th minute Adelino Machado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but António Garcia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Manuel Moura had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Adelino Machado blasted a shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without António Garcia having to make a save. Eusébio Fernandes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Inácio Monteiro having to interfere. The Esculca supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Esculca would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
