If Ricardo Simões had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Carlos Pacheco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. João Esteves recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ricardo Simões took the ball and in the 14 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Cláudio Soares. Cláudio Soares dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. If Hugo Nascimento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. António Barros showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Esteves in the 22nd minute of the match. If Ricardo Simões had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Carlos Pacheco recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 25th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. António Ramos kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. Rui Henriques hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. In a very dangerous position, a player in Aiao fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 31st minute. Penalty! António Barros had in the 33rdth minute some difficulties stopping Sérgio Costa's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. António Barros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from João Esteves, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Ricardo Simões had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 39 minutes, Carlos Pacheco managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Aiao's supporters crossed their fingers, but Carlos Pacheco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 41st minute Ricardo Simões shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cláudio Soares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 42 played minutes Montalvinho FC got a freekick which was hit by Sérgio Costa. Carlos Pacheco struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Cláudio Soares didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Aiao. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ricardo Simões to make the kick off. In the 54th minute Hugo Nascimento shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but António Barros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Montalvinho FC's João Esteves in the 58th minute got a chance for a shot 58th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Aiao's goalie prevented a goal. After a rather tough play, Aiao's Hélder Coelho got a free kick in the 60th minute. When Hugo Nascimento came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Montalvinho FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hugo Nascimento couldn't finish the play. In the 72nd match minute, Montalvinho FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alexandre Coelho to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Carlos Pacheco managed to get in a good position for a shot. Aiao's supporters rose to their feet, but Carlos Pacheco was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cláudio Soares breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Cláudio Soares made an important save on a dangerous shot by Carlos Pacheco in the 75th minute. Ricardo Simões sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ricardo Simões received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Cláudio Soares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Ricardo Simões's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Cláudio Soares was relentless in the 85th minute of the game. In the 90th minute of the match Paulo Maia sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but António Barros skillfully saved the ball. 91 minutes into the game, Heitor Lopes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Aiao's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Montalvinho FC the free kick. Heitor Lopes hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Aiao eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
