In the 3rd minute José Anjos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alfredo Figueiredo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in SC Valadares's zone, José Anjos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alfredo Figueiredo came out of the goal and José Anjos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gonçalo Nunes kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. Miguel Reis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Alfredo Figueiredo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. José Anjos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfredo Figueiredo having to interfere. 15 minutes into the match, SC Valadares's goal looked a bit too open when José Anjos came free, but Alfredo Figueiredo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Pedro Leão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that José Anjos's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Alfredo Figueiredo was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. SC Valadares's Alfredo Figueiredo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Anjos in the 27th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Anjos in the 28th minute of play forced SC Valadares's goalkeeper Alfredo Figueiredo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fojo's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by João Marques in the 30th minute. Fojo's João Marques was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Alfredo Figueiredo in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Alfredo Figueiredo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Anjos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Manuel Fontes kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. After 39 played minutes Fojo got a freekick which was hit by José Anjos. In the 39th minute, José Anjos fired away a free kick at the goal, but hit it at the wrong angle and it went over the crossbar. Pedro Leão blasted a shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Hélder Setúbal having to make a save. Sebastião Pires received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Hélder Setúbal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Anjos in the 46th minute of play forced SC Valadares's goalkeeper Alfredo Figueiredo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Pedro Leão made a kick off. After having played for 51 minutes, Miguel Reis managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Fojo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Miguel Reis was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 57th match minute, Fojo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Paulo Aleixo to maneuver through the defense. Hélder Setúbal made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Sebastião Pires sent off a good shot on target. In the 63rdth minute of the game Pedro Leão who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Fojo's Hélder Setúbal was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Sebastião Pires recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 66th minute, Miguel Sousa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 67th minute Pedro Leão shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hélder Setúbal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alfredo Figueiredo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Miguel Reis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When André Soares fell near the penalty area in the 94th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Fojo's protests and gave André Soares a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Fojo getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. André Soares hit a great ball. For all the effort they put into the match, the SC Valadares players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Fojo.
